About this event
Ever wanted to play Brazilian drums? This two-hour workshop is where you start. Samba reggae comes from the streets of Salvador, Bahia – the rhythm blocos like Olodum and Ile Aiye carried from their neighbourhoods to the world stage. You will get a drum, learn your own part from zero, and by the end the whole room plays the groove together as one band. Most people who come have never held a drumstick. That is exactly who this is for. All instruments provided – real Contemporanea drums. All levels welcome. Under 18 with a parent or guardian. Led by Pato Irie, director of Toronto samba reggae group TDot Batu. Early bird $50 until September 10, $60 after. 2 tickets for $90. Only 20 spots. Please note: the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
